In conjunction with the Outdoor Writing II unit, learning and reading about Minnesota author Sigurd F. Olson, the NCE Seniors enjoyed an English class trip to the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge in North East Becker County. Activities included hiking, grilling, Bocce Ball, Frisbee, and learning a little history of the Otter Tail River Watershed.
The class is also completing a journal based on Olson's Boundary Waters writings, and their own experience exploring the Tamarac Refuge.
A lot of laughs, and great NCE memories, were made by this amazing graduating class.
Thanks for a great year Seniors!

Last week, a select few of the senior high choir and band members participated in the Sub Section 30 Honor Festival in Fosston. At this festival musicians from across the sub section worked together and with guest clinicians to perform wonderful and challenging music! These music students had a very long day preparing for their concert!
In addition to the choir and band performing, students who received "Best of Day" ratings at solo or ensemble contest this year were selected to perform their works at the concert. NCE had TWO performances during this portion- Josephine Tjon and Annabelle Begg's flute duet, as well as Annabelle Begg's vocal solo!
A great time was had by all!

For their photo project, 9th graders were challenged to capture emotions- such as happiness, sadness, anger, and fear. They used various techniques like lighting, composition, and communication to get their subjects to display emotions. The result was a collection of stunning photographs that not only showed the technical skills of the students but also their ability to have a single image tell a story. This project allowed them to explore the powerful impact of photography on emotions and how it can be used to express oneself.
